This is a fantastic and easy to make “break-a-fast” to honour your Agni (digestive fire) in the morning.
This meal is Augmenting, meaning it is easier to digest than food which is extractive. If you wish you find out more about how to structure your meals from an ayurvedic perspective in order to honour your Agni I would love to guide you through it during my mentorship program.
Preparation : 15 minutes
Serves 2
Fruit in season where you live is a lighter choice for breakfast when cooked and spiced to support Agni. Cooking starts the digestive process and spicing of the fruit ensures balance of tastes. The serving size can be the size of your two open hands.
You will need: 1 tbsp ghee 1 tiny pinch mineral salt 1-2 whole cloves 1 tsp carob powder 2-3 medium sweet apples chopped evenly 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder 1/3 cups of raisins 2-4 dried prunes Water
Here is how: Heat the ghee in a small pan and simmer the salt, cloves, carob, and cinnamon until the aroma is present. Add the apples, raisins, and prunes and stir to cover with the ghee and spices. Add water to just cover the apples, stir, cover and simmer until the apples are tender and can be pierced easily with a knife. Turn off the heat and let sit for 5 minutes before serving
